HOW DOES AN
ALSACE VENDANGES TARDIVES TASTE?

SWEET & SOFT

VENDAGNES = HARVEST TARDIVES = LATE

These are wines made from late harvested grapes. Because the grapes mature for longer than usual, they are full of thick, fragrant juice with a lot of sugar. During the fermentation, most of the sugar is converted into alcohol and some remains in the wine unfermented. This unfermented residual sugar provides the sweet taste. Vendanges Tardives is only made from riesling, pinot gris, Gewurztraminer and muscat, the so-called noble grape varieties.

ALSACE = PROTECTED LOCATION BETWEEN MOUNTAINS AND FORESTS

-

MODERATE (WARM) CLIMATE IN A NORTHERN (COOL) REGION

AS THE GRAPES HANG FOR A LONG TIME, THEY LOSE MOISTURE AND WITHER. THEREFORE THE THICKENED JUICE TASTES EXTRA CONCENTRATED.
