Designation for red wine made from different grape varieties that originally come from Bordeaux.
The Bordeaux blend is found all over the world.

Bordeaux blend =

CABERNET SAUVIGNON + MERLOT

possibly supplemented with:

cabernet franc

petit verdot

malbec

carmenère

Each grape variety has specific characteristics that complement each other in the blend.

Cabernet sauvignon: black fruit, spices, cedar wood, firm structure.

Merlot: red fruit, chocholate, rounder structure.
