CAN YOU TASTE THE
SOIL IN A WINE?
It is a myth that you can taste, for example, granite, shale or flint in the wine. Since the minerals that could give that taste are insoluble. They never end up in de grape.
It is true that the soil, due to its structure and composition, influences the ripening and development of the grapes. As a result, a Riesling from a shale soil tastes different from a calcareous sandy soil.
